Music and Jazz Lovers – In August, Pat Metheny, one of the most acclaimed guitarists and composers in the jazz world, will make a unique concert at Sara kulturhus!
Pat Metheny is not just a guitarist – he is a musical pioneer. Since his debut on the international jazz scene in 1974, he has continuously redefined what jazz guitar can be. With his distinctive playing style, which combines melodic freedom with advanced rhythm and harmony, he has inspired generations of musicians. His first album, Bright Size Life (1975), set a new standard for jazz guitar and paved the way for a brilliant career that continues to push the boundaries of improvisation and sound technology.
Over the years, Metheny has played with musical greats such as Steve Reich, David Bowie, Ornette Coleman, and this year's Polar Prize winner, Herbie Hancock. His work spans from solo pieces to grand orchestral compositions and even his innovative Orchestrion project, where robotic instruments become part of the musical magic.
It’s one thing to achieve popularity as a musician, but it’s something entirely different to earn the immense respect that Pat Metheny has received from both critics and peers. With 20 Grammy Awards in 10 different categories, three gold records, and a place in the DownBeat Hall of Fame, he stands as one of the greatest stars in jazz history.
During the concert at Sara Kulturhus, Pat Metheny will take the stage alone – together with all his guitars! He will present a program spanning his entire career, including songs from his latest albums, Dream Box and MoonDial. With over a dozen guitars on stage, the audience can also look forward to personal stories that offer a unique insight into his musical journey.
